Where Can I Find Shipping Boxes Wholesale?

Isn’t it kind of annoying when someone answers a question with a question? (A funny pun would be you replying with, “When isn’t it?”). Seriously, though, it’s annoying as heck, but also pretty funny if you are the one doing it to someone else. It can also be a pretty amusing party trick when you and your friends are sitting around the booth at Denny’s, all of you hung over and waiting for your hot chocolate and roast beef to come through, because you all ordered the exact same thing because apparently that was the hangover food of the day (this may or not have happened to someone I know, or myself). But yeah, you can sit there and try to answer a question with a question for a long time, and it can be a good time. In this case, the question is: Where can I find shipping boxes wholesale?

And then I go, “Have you ever been to PackagingSupplies.com?”

And you go, “What is that?”

At which point I will have to break the cycle by explaining that PackagingSupplies.com is a website that, believe it or not, sells packaging supplies. Naturally, this would be the place to find shipping boxes wholesale. From literally hundreds of options of shapes, sizes, and styles, PackagingSupplies.com more or less takes the cake when it comes to shipping boxes, or wholesale in general. From garbage bags to hazardous shipping containers to cellophane wrap, all sold by the bundle, it’s a pretty unique shopping experience. I have to admit that I have fun just scrolling through the options when I visit the website.
You might say, “It’s really that easy?”

And I would reply with something like, “Is the Pope Catholic?” (No offense to any and all Catholics. Hopefully you can recognize that this is a figure of speech in the form of a question in order to make a point. The point being: yes, it’s really that easy because, yes, the Pope is Catholic).

You might not really believe me, so you would probably try again: “At PackagingSupplies.com I can really find shipping boxes wholesale?”

At which point my face will probably produce a sly grin of some sort and I will retort: “Was Abe Lincoln honest?” Well, needless to say we all know that Abe Lincoln was honest, which is why he was called Honest Abe. Once again, the use of a figure of speech in the form of a question in order to make a point. So are you getting the point? That you can find shipping boxes wholesale at PackagingSupplies.com, and numerous other shipping supplies? I hope so, because it’s as Catholic as Abe is honest.

The Origin of Cardboard Shipping Boxes

It seemed right to begin a discussion about cardboard shipping boxes by talking about the history of cardboard a little bit. Namely: where does cardboard come from? First of all, cardboard is more or less a general term for some heavy-duty paper. After all, paper towel rolls are still cardboard but they are much thinner and not as strong as something like cardboard shipping boxes.

Wouldn’t you know it, but cardboard first starts out as wood! Unless, of course, we are talking about cardboard made from other recycled cardboard, but when the first cardboard was made it was made of wood. That’s right, trees chipped and then broken down with chemicals into fibers. These fibers then get washed to get rid of the chemicals, and it goes through a series of machines that bleaches it, mixes it, and cuts it up to make a pulp. From there is goes into a machine that converts into a mat of paper.

This mat goes through steam rollers that squeeze out any excess water and dry it at the same time, also making sure that it is smooth and even. The drying process is finished, and there is now paper! This paper is then used to make different kinds of cardboard. Cardstock is made by gluing several layers together. If cardboard shipping boxes are being made, then these sheets of cardstock run through a machine that gives it a rippled texture. This is called ‘corrugated’. This is what you see in between the flat cardboard, which is exactly what happens. The newly corrugated sheet is glued in between cardstock and then cut to size. Then people get to have their logo printed it, and all that good stuff.

Wherever you are sitting, take a quick look around and try to see how much cardboard is near you. Okay, for me, I’m seeing a paper towel roll (which is still inside the paper towel but probably not for long, once my kids get up). I see some hardcover textbooks on the desk next to me, which might have some glossy printed pictures on them but underneath that shiny paper is surely cardboard.

Can’t forget the box in the corner, that my brother and sister-in-law shipped massive quantities of Halloween candy in. It’s the first thing my kids ask for every single morning (thanks, guys). Cardboard is everywhere, and even places that aren’t obvious.

Why Cheap Moving Boxes are the Best

Nobody says that they want to spend a lot of money on cardboard boxes. Or if they do they are probably lying. We generally use cardboard boxes one time and then we are done with them. Sometimes, if they hold up well, we can save some of them and use them for a side project in the future, or to send your cousin her old jean jacket that you borrowed at your other cousin’s rehearsal dinner.

Cardboard boxes are ideal for short term, and this is why we choose them for moving. On top of that, this is why we choose cheap moving boxes (keyword being cheap). Have you ever heard of anyone packing all of their house up in plastic bins? I didn’t think so. You would wind up with about a hundred totes after everything was moved in and then what would you do with them?

Cheap Moving Boxes Maybe build a house out of plastic totes or something. Have you ever heard of anyone packing all of their house up into garbage bags? Absolutely not! That’s even more ludicrous than the opposite extreme. Nobody with any type of life experience would put their dishes and appliances in plastic bags and heft them around. You might as well just move all those bags right into the trash, because that is about what the stuff will be worth after the entire process.

No. The answer to all of this is cheap moving boxes. And the answer to cheap moving boxes is PackagingSupplies.com. Remember what I said about packing dishes in plastic bags? I’ve got one better. Dish packs. These are cardboard partitions that go inside boxes to keep the glassware from killing each other on the journey. I’ve used these before, and they are amazing.

As much as I loved the dish packs I loved the lamp boxes even more. Somehow moving lamps is an enormous pain. They aren’t very sturdy, they are awkward, and of course they are fragile. My ultimate favorite, though, in the family of cheap moving boxes, is the picture frame box. I have had way too much stress occur over whether or not my paintings were sleeping peacefully enough between the guest bedroom pillows, or wrapped up in a sleeping bag. I always imagine a sore spot being rubbed right through. Thanks to the the picture frame boxes, all of that anxiety goes away. There’s enough from the rest of the process, am I right?

Shipping Boxes Wholesale: Where It’s At

One of the things I appreciate most about buying shipping boxes wholesale is that I don’t have to worry about running out of boxes in the middle of the packing process. I have moved houses and states, and yes, even countries, multiple times, and I start getting cotton-mouth and heavy-breathing when my boxes start getting low. Somehow we never leave ourselves enough time to get done what we need to get done.

Shipping Boxes WholesaleMost of that is because it’s just plain inconvenient to pack up your house! I mean, you still have to live there and function every single minute up until you actually officially move out. So we don’t really think we are as far behind as we are until, well…we are! I hate that feeling. I mean, it just really sucks. Somehow it always makes my bones hurt, and it makes me feel like giving up. It makes me feel like the amazing adventure that is about to come, that I am actually living through, is just plain ruining my life.

I remember those times of stashing boxes for weeks in advance, for asking all of my friends to save any boxes (as a side note, shoe boxes and coffee maker boxes never really do any good. Can you imagine packing a whole house in super small boxes? Talk about nightmare!). Finally, when everyone was completely wrung dry, I would start buying them. At the Uhaul store I was absolutely appalled to see their prices. You would think that they would offer shipping boxes wholesale…not so much. Even in my desperate state I left with zero boxes, and that is not a good feeling for the mover. I wound up finding decent prices and decent sizes at Lowes.

The problem, though, was that I wound up going back multiple times, and spent about twenty bucks. Don’t think that’s a big deal? If I had just taken myself to PackagingSupplies.com (if I had even known about it), I could have gotten an entire bundle of twenty-five for the same price. I even went to Wal-Mart and bought a few extra plastic totes! I could have avoided all of that stress (So. Much. Stress.)

just by being ahead of the game and ordering the shipping boxes wholesale from PackagingSupplies.com. Now that’s where it’s at! Don’t believe me? I dare you to try it. I triple dog dare you.

Custom Shipping Boxes – Easy as One, Two, Three

Custom Shipping Boxesimmediately going on and on and it took me a full fifteen minutes to get her to realize that I couldn’t hear her, because apparently the speaker had been smudged over with mustard. If you have ever tried to have a conversation through mustard, or a condiment of any kind, then you know that one person winds up not being able to understand a single thing. Once I had gotten my great-aunt to settle down and finish her sandwich, I was able to get to the bottom of things. Apparently she was very concerned because she had to order some custom shipping boxes but one of her dogs had run away and turned up in South Dakota. She absolutely needed to go and retrieve her retriever, but she absolutely needed to restock her custom shipping boxes. She would be far behind in orders if she waited until she got back. Could I, would I, please place the order for her?

How hard it could it be?

Sure, I said. Go to PackagingSupplies.com, she told me, and scroll through the custom shipping boxes. She told me which ones she needed, and how many. We hung up the phone. You might be wondering what I did next. Well, I went to PackagingSupplies.com, and I scrolled through the custom shipping boxes.

It’s a good thing that my great-aunt from Maine told me exactly what she wanted; there were so many options I could have ordered her boxes big enough to put a body inside of, or boxes to put her sandwiches in. She wanted one case of the clear white lid boxes, size 7 X 5 ½ X 1, which includes cotton filler, and comes one hundred pieces to a case. Be careful not to forget the stretch loops, she had hollered as we were hanging up. The what? I had hollered back. The elastic ties, she clarified.   I probably would have figured out that she needed these on my own, since the link to the ‘stretch loops’ was right next to the one for the boxes, which was a handy marketing choice, if you ask me. So I ordered three bundles of the ten-inch decorative gold elastic ties. Order complete. Easy as one, two, three. Literally.

When my great-aunt returned to her home in Maine, after hunting down her hound dog in the bayous of Louisiana (are you sure I said a retriever from South Dakota?), she was able to jump right back into business. She had everything on hand just as if she had done it herself. Which she could have if she owned a smart phone, or a tablet of some kind, instead of insisting on sticking to the contraption still attached to her wall. I’m pretty sure it was Alexander Graham Bell’s first model.
